What to See

#1 CN Tower

CN Tower

The CN Tower is hard to miss in Toronto as it towers over some of Canada’s tallest buildings.

Personally, I would rather eat at the CN Tower rotating restaurant and take my time to enjoy the view.

What many people don’t know is there a second observation point higher up the needle so this is not for the faint of heart.

CN Tower Edge Walk – You can now go to the top of the CN Tower, climb outside, and walk around it as you are attached to a harness.

Location: 290 Bremner Blvd, Toronto, ON M5V 3L9

#2 Greek Town

Greek Town is located on the Danforth. The food at many of their restaurants located here is delicious.

In August there is a street festival here called Taste of the Danforth.

If you want to avoid the crowds go at 12 p.m. sharp. It gets very crowded at 1 p.m.

Location: The Danforth

#3 Little Italy

I have been to Little Italy in Montreal and let me say Toronto’s is far superior. Local Toronto City Blog provides a great list of 20 things to do in Little Italy.

Coming from Union go to north on Spadina. Hike up to College and turn west and eventually, you will hit little Italy.

Location: College Street West

#4 Chinatown

Chinatown is on a street called Spadina. The subway stop is also Called Spadina.

#5 Toronto Island

If you are looking for the perfect picture of Toronto visit Toronto Island.

#6 Visit Niagara Falls Toronto

Niagara Falls is very close to Toronto. In fact, it is only an hour away. There are plenty of Casino’s there if you like to gamble, and entertainment such as wax museums and water slides.

It is best to go on the weekday to avoid the crowds. Parking and hotels are much cheaper on weekdays too.

#7 Canada’s Wonderland

If you like rollercoasters or waterslides then consider Canada’s Wonderland. Make no mistake about it — this is Canada’s best theme park. As of May 2019, they launched the Yukon Striker which is the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in the world.

Location: 1 Canada’s Wonderland Drive, Vaughan, ON L6A 1S6

#8 Distillery District

Distillery District

The distillery district dates back to 1832. Check out the distillery district for great restaurants and brewpubs. The distillery district is located on Mill Street and Trinity Street.

Location: Mill Street and Trinity Street

A&C Games

A&C Games

If you are a retro gamer then A & C Games is the place for you.

Here you can buy retro video games, consoles, video game accessories, and merchandise.

There is a scene in the film Nintendo Quest that is shot inside A & C Games.

Location: 452 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON M5T 2G8

Restaurants

#9 Best Sports Bar

Check out The Real Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Toronto. They have a huge 39 feet display screen.

When you get their try and make sure you sit on the bar side and not the restaurant. At the restaurant, you can’t even see the 39 feet display screen.

#10 Best Steak Houses

Jacob & Co Steakhouse

Habour 60 Toronto

Location: 60 Harbour St, Toronto, ON M5J 1B7

Jacob & Co Steakhouse

Location: 12 Brant St, Toronto, ON M5V 2M1

Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar

Location: 365 Bay St, Toronto, ON M5H 2V1

#11 Best Irish Pubs

I feel qualified to write about this as I am someone who lives in Toronto and has lived in Ireland.

PJ O’Brien’s – I never seen a pub so perfectly created as an Irish pub as PJ O’Briens.

#12 St. Lawrence Market

St. Lawrence Market

Toronto has a market right downtown. As a traveller, you probably can’t buy much and take home as it will expire but it is worth a visit.

There are some decent restaurants there.

Location: 93 Front St E, Toronto, ON M5E 1C3

Sports

#13 Baseball – Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays are Canada’s one and only baseball team in the MLB. What I really like about the Blue Jays is that you have Boston Red Sox’s and the New York Yankees in town practically once a month.

The Yankees and Red Sox play in Toronto often as they are in our division. The cost is very reasonable compared to tickets in New York and Boston.

#14 Basketball – Raptors

Toronto Raptors

Make no mistake about it — Toronto is a basketball city.

The stadium, Scotiabank Arena (formerly the Air Canada Centre), is located downtown.

To get there, hop on the subway and head to Union Station.

#15 Hockey – Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs

I am not a hockey fan but I have been to several games in the past and going to a live game is a totally different experience.

The games almost always sell out so it is best to book your tickets early.

#16 Canadian Football – Argonauts

Toronto Argonauts

Canada has its own football league called the Canadian Football League (CFL). They play in a stadium called BMO Field.

#17 Soccer – Toronto FC

Toronto FC

Toronto FC plays in the BMO Field.

Shopping

#18 Pacific Mall in Markham

There is a huge mall north of Toronto called the Pacific Mall in Markham. Truthfully I would prefer a meal here than in China town. I spent 4 months in China and I find the food very authentic.

# 19 Eaton Centre

Eaton Centre

There is a large mall downtown called the Eaton Centre. Many say the shopping mall is dying but not the Eaton Centre. There are plenty of shops to choose from and a food court downstairs.

Tips

#20 Is Toronto easy to get around?

If you are downtown then yes it is easy to get around. The subway covers the downtown core very well.

Unfortunately, most of you will land at Pearson Airport which is in Mississauga. Traffic is terrible and your best bet is to take the bus from Pearson to the Subway.

TIP

The cheapest way to get downtown is to take the TTC Rocket (City Bus #900) to the subway. Take the subway downtown to Union Station.

#21 What is the best time to visit Toronto?

Personally, I believe the best time to visit Toronto is in the summer.

Toronto is not as cold as the rest of Canada but it is a damp cold like New York.

#22 Is Toronto Expensive to Visit?

Toronto is not expensive to visit. If you are worried just set a budget.

Hotels prices during Toronto Film Fest are expensive which is in early September.

Parking is expensive but you don’t need to rent a car if you learn the subway.

#23 What is the best time to visit Toronto Canada?

The good thing about Toronto is it is much warmer than most of Canada so don’t let the weather be a factor when coming to visit.

#24 Is it safe in Toronto?

Toronto Canada is very safe and you don’t have to worry about when to visit. You will have no reason to visit the areas where the crime rate is high.

#25 Where can I explore in Toronto?

Here are some great ideas for exploring

Greektown – hop on the subway and get off at Pape Station. Then walk in the direction towards CN Tower.

Chinatown and Little Italy – visit both these districts during a single hike. From Union Station go west till you hit Spadina. Walk north on Spadina and see China town. Turn west when you get to College and eventually you will hit Little Italy.

High Park – there is a very large park in Toronto called High Park. If you take the subway to Runnymede station you will see it right away.
