Background

All Masters of the Universe Characters live on the planet Eternia.   An action figure is either a Heroic Warrior or an Evil Warrior. The leader of the Heroic Warriors is He-Man and the leader of the Evil Warriors is Skeletor. He-Man and his friends defend Eternia and the secrets of Castle Grayskull from Skeletor.

What are old He-Man Toys worth?

There are a lot of factors to determine what a He-Man Toy is worth. An unopened Masters of the Universe Action figure is obviously worth more than an opened one.  What is important when deciding to purchase an unopened He-Man is the condition of the box.    A damaged box could drastically drop the value of the action figure Below you will find the prices for popular Masters of the Universe Action figures in their box.  The boxes are in relatively good condition.  Finally, all prices listed are actual sold prices on eBay.

What year did He-Man Action Figures come out?

He-Man Action figures were released between 1982 and 1987.

He-Man

He-Man Action Figure

The character that started it all – He-Man.

He-Man and his friends will attempt to defend the realm of Eternia and the secrets of Castle Grayskull from the evil forces of Skeletor.

Only Man-At-Arms, Orko, and Zodac know that He-Man is the alter-ego of Prince Adam.

Battle Cat who is the alter-ego of Cringer is He-Mans fighting mount.

The original He-Man toy comes with an axe, sword, and shield

Skeletor

Skeletor

Skeletor is the main villain in the Masters of the Universe.

His main goal is to capture Castle Greyskull where He-Man draws most of his powers.

Skeletor resides with other villans at Snake Mountain.

Did you know the inspiration for Skeletor cam from a skeleton at the house of fear at Pikes Amusement Park in Long Beach, California.

The skeleton from the funhouse was actually a real person!

Man-At-Arms

Man-At-Arms Action Figure

Man-at-Arms real name is Duncan. Duncan is generally peaceful and prefers alternatives to fighting.

Duncan is one of the three people who know He-Man’s secret identity (He-Man is Pince Adam).

Beast Man

Beast Man

Beast Man is the right-hand man of Skeletor, he has control over many wild creatures and has brute strength. This action figure is one of the original characters

Mer-Man

Mer-Man

Mer-Man is another one of Skeletor’s henchmen. He is more comfortable underwater as he is the ruler of the sea, however, he is comfortable on land.

Stratos

Stratos

Stratos is a close ally of He-Man. He has wings and can fly. Stratos plays a key role when spying for the Heroic Warriors.

What is interesting about this action figure is they produced a version with a blue beard. This is a very rare version and an opened package sold for $1000.00 USD.

Zodac

Zodac

What is interesting about Zodac is he is not considered a Heroic or a Evil Warrior which has led many to feel confused about his role in the series.

On the back of packaging of Zodac it states – “Zodac attacks the Heroic Warriors using all the evil power at his command!”. However, in the carton he appears to be in the side of He-Man.

Teela

Teela

Teela is the captain of the Royal Guard at the palace of Eternos and thus responsible for training and protecting Prince Adam of Eternia.

She does not know He-Man is the alter ego of Prince Adam.

Trap Jaw

Trap Jaw

Trap Jaw is a member of the Evil Warriors.

He comes with a robotic arm where he can change weapons.

Trap Jaw also has a powerful jaw that packs a dangerous bite.

Finally, he has a loop in his helmet which allows him to slide down from various places.

Ram Man

Ram-Man

Ram Man is a member of the Heroic Warriors. He is known for ramming bad things with his head. With this action figure, you can compress his legs and then spring him into action by pushing a button on the back of his foot.

Man-E-Faces

MAN-E-FACES

Man-E-Faces is one of the heroic warriors. His feature is he can change his face from a human-like form to a robot, to a monster.

Tri-Klops

Tri-Klops

Tri-Klops is a member of the Evil Warriors. Tri-Klops can change his vision by rotating his visor and comes with a green sword.

Castle Grayskull

Castle Greyskull

Castle Greyskull is a castle located on the planet Eternia. It is believed that if you conquer Castle Greyskull then you conquer Eterina.

Snake Mountain

Snake Mountain

Snake Mountain is an evil stronghold of Skeletor. It is located in the dark hemisphere of Eterinia and the home of Skelator.

This toy came with a trap door where Skelator is seen standing. There are also two snakes and one of them comes with a microphone where a child can be the voice of Snake Mountain.

What is the rarest He-Man figure?

Savage He-Man

Many would argue the rarest He-Man figure is the Savage He-Man.

No one is sure where Savage He-Man came from but many think it was a mail-in offer though Wonder bread.

The figure is very basic (no box) but He-Man hair and clothes are a different colour. On March 2020 a Savage He-Man sold for $1000.00 USD or $1400.00 CDN.

Alternative He-Man Action Figures

There are several other toylines for He-Man that have been released after the original series.

These may offer cheaper alternatives if you can’t afford an original action figure in the box.

The one I find is the most similar to the original is Masters of the Universe – Commemorative Series.

Conclusion

We hope you liked He-Man Toys From The 80s. We do think an unopened He-Man figure is the perfect gift for him. For one it is recreating childhood memories, but an unopened action figure can also be considered an investment.
